From our buddy J.Scott's local newspaper:
MAN FACES THEFT CHARGES A 19-year-old Greater Sudbury man remains in stable condition in hospital after a steamroller accident in Bell Park early Sunday. Traffic Sgt. Gary Lavoie said Monday the man had to undergo emergency surgery to treat a serious leg injury and has yet to appear in court on the charges. The man was found pinned underneath a steamroller in Bell Park about 3:20 a.m. Sunday. Investigating officers determined the man had taken the steamroller for a joyride and lost control. The steamroller tipped over on him. The man had been drinking, police say. Lavoie said a sample of blood was taken from the man while he was in hospital and will be analyzed. The man is facing charges of impaired driving and theft. www.thesudburystar.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3169373 |

Several thoughts on this.
1. I want to come up with a 'Confucius Say...' on this but I can't quite put it together. 2. Headline - Drunk Man Rolled, or Drunk man now flat man... something like that. 3. Gene pool award! |

Good catch FP!
I missed that one. This town is full of drunken loons; the local rag just highlighted one of the more interesting ones. I doubt it is a "steam roller". They were replaced with diesel powered units about 80 years ago. |

Just to highlight my point about local drunken activities....
Greater Sudbury Police said officers arrested a man for impaired driving early Saturday morning after a Toppers Pizza employee called police to say a customer who appeared to be drinking was attempting to drive away. Officers went to the scene after receiving the call about 1:55 a.m. The vehicle was stopped on Notre Dame Avenue. The driver gave officers a fake name, police said. His real identity was determined and he failed a roadside breath test. The driver was also under two licence suspensions, police said. Christopher Beyers, 26, was charged with obstruct police, over 80 and two counts of driving under suspension. He appeared in bail court Monday morning and was released from custody. He is to appear in court on June 29. In another case, a Garson man is facing seven assault and alcohol-related charges after an incident there Sunday. Greater Sudbury Police say the man was involved in a domestic dispute with his common-law spouse about 1:05 p.m. Sunday. When officers arrived, they learned that he had been operating a black Ford pickup truck just before to the incident. Since officers smelled alcohol, the man was arrested and failed a breath test. Daniel Grant, 40, has been charged with four counts of assault, blowing over, mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000. Grant's licence was also suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days. www.thesudburystar.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3169359 |

...and one more...
A 47-year-old man was arrested after he was involved in two collisions in the city's south end. The first collision happened about 8:30 p.m. Friday when a black Mercedes left the roadway on Maki Avenue, drove up on a lawn and struck a cluster of rocks before driving away, police said. The driver failed to remain at the scene, but left the licence plate of his vehicle behind. The same vehicle was involved in a second collision on Regent Street, where it drove off the paved portion of a private parking lot, striking a large boulder. The vehicle was immobilized, police said. The driver was later arrested and taken to Sudbury Regional Hospital to be treated for his injuries. The man had more than the legal limit of alcohol in his system to drive. Paul Seccaspina, 47, of Sudbury, has been charged with impaired operation of a vehicle, failing a breath test and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. The accused's licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Seccaspina appeared in bail court on Monday afternoon and was released from custody. He is to appear in court again on June 29. www.thesudburystar.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3169377 |

I hate to brag about stupidity, but check out this local Sudburian!
Peter Bluff passed out at the wheel of a stolen vehicle at Beatty and Elm streets with a beer in his hand on Feb. 26 about 4:55 a.m., a Sudbury court heard on Wednesday. The Sudbury man woke up when police were attempting to get into the locked vehicle. Assistant Crown attorney Len Walker told the court when he woke up, his foot came off the brake and the vehicle rolled forward into a parked police cruiser. Bluff, 26, was a suspended driver at the time. He was arrested and had blood alcohol readings around 160, Walker said. The legal limit to drive is 80. Bluff pleaded guilty in a Sudbury court on Wednesday to impaired driving, driving while suspended, driving while disqualified and possession of a stolen vehicle for the events on Feb. 26. He also pleaded guilty on Wednesday to charges of theft under $5,000, break out and breach of recognizance. On Nov. 22, 2010, he hid in a stall in the mens washroom at Boston Pizza in New Sudbury until the business was closed and the staff had left for the night. He then crawled through the ceiling into an office area and attempted to get into a safe, Walker said. He couldn't get into the safe, but he stole two rings of keys and broke out of the business. He caused about $200 damage, Walker said. www.thesudburystar.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3172120 |

And why does that second guy get a Mercedes? Clearly I deserve that car way more. |

Here we go again!
Another weekend, another round of drunken drivers doing incredibly stupid things. Police suspect that impaired driving was the cause of a car accident on Saturday morning. Greater Sudbury Police were tipped off that an impaired driver was leaving McCrae Heights and traveling north on Regional Road 80. Around a minute later, police received another call about a single motor vehicle crash south of Valleyview Road in Valley East. Officers found a 2004 Chevrolet Impala at the scene with damage to the front end. A male had been ejected from the vehicle and was found on the side of the road. Police have learned that an 18-year-old G2 driver left a McCrae Heights residence at a high speed going northbound on Regional Road 80. The vehicle hit the shoulder of the road on the east side, causing the driver to lose control, cross all four lanes and hit the rock cut. The driver was taken to Sudbury Regional Hospital and is in stable condition. During their investigation, officers found a bottle of Vodka, 100 grams of marihuana, 20 grams of magic mushrooms, two marihuana bongs, set of scales and one hundred and twenty dollars cash in the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. www.thesudburystar.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3178786 |
