I didn't think I'd ever like a mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera, but the Pentax K-01 has me pleasantly surprised:
www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-k-01-m...ands-on-review-18400 If it had a viewfinder of some sort, it would make a neat replacement for the K-x/K-r. Especially with that awesome sensor and full K-mount compatibility. My wife's K-x is getting old (just kidding, it still works fine and we don't foresee a need to replace it anytime soon) |

Given that the sensor is likely the same one as in the K5 it's really going to be interesting to see what happens when this really hits the market. It's unlike anything out there. It's design is going to be a love it or hate thing. I like the look. I do not need another camera (really!) but between the Pentax Q and the K-01, I'm getting a lot more interested. Love the yellow body!
Time will tell on this. |

I have to say that I do not like the look of this new camera.
School bus yellow really turns me off! It's kind of brick shaped. And $1000 US - pass. |

oh.... sorry.
The black one looks better than yellow, that's for sure. But still looks blocky. I guess the proof will be in the pudding. I'm judging on appearance alone. If it takes decent images I'm sure it will be a big seller. |

well, no viewfinder and no weather sealing... I hope it does well on the market, but it won't find its way into my camera bag.
Still... this automatically becomes the mirrorless camera with the largest lens support on the market. That's something worth bragging about. |

I have to say, this is the most promising mirrorless model I've yet seen. It's not creating yet another lens system, uses an APS-C sensor and unlike some other makers (I'm looking at you, Panasonic and Olympus) it actually shoots HD video at the specified 24 fps instead of retiredly primitive 30 fps.
If Nikon made one of these instead of the stupid One line, I'd look at buying one. |

wow, where have i been? i guess i dont pay attention to new stuff until it isnt new anymore, lol.
This looks pretty cool but i am a habitual viewfinder user so not sure how i'd like it. I guess i don't know what the supposed benefits of being mirrorless are either. regardless, once the price point settles in, i think this will fetch some positive attention. There is something dissonant about the retro styling paired with the modern yellow color however. The classic silver/black is a winner! |
