here are a few frames from the ocean smackdown...the DA15 was coughing up salt water last night...i havent checked it this morning. i also had to completely disassemble and clean my tripod after the sand caused the clamps to seize. I also left my pants on the front porch last night before entering the house...prolly should deal with those too, lol.

It all started so nicely...

FP - the eerie skyscapes are really moody and the colors are great.
Mongooz - love the color and density of texture in BOUNTY

here is another from Rodeo Beach, this one after sunset when the colors turned cool.

Question - did my fireworks shooting guide help?

thx. i got lucky catching the smiley because if you snap too soon it looks like a regular burst as the pieces initially spread out.

Question - did my fireworks shooting guide help?

tim, very much so, thanks! i learned how to use my bulb mode which i had never tried before. i used three different lenses and finally concluded that it was impossible to aim at anything, so wider was better to capture most of the scene. We were out at a country firework show, so there was nothing on the ground to provide any context, except a pesky stadium light that obscured most of my shots. we were also downwind, so late in the show all the smoke filled the sky. the unconsumed pieces started falling and got the grass smoldering in front of us. i yelled to another viewer and he doused it before anything happened but was amazed at how easily a brush fire could spread under such conditions. thx for the tips!

Good, glad that helped. You get what you get at these shows. Frankly those are excellent captures IMHO. I shot so much over the weekend, I didn't even go to the local fireworks show. Too tired.

I'm going to break from tradition here and as per the rules say something nice "about at least one person's photo".
To our host BCB- great job on San Pablo Morning :tu:

Haven't shot much except a baseball tournament this week and as some of you know I don't post identifiable pics of kids so I'm a bit limitted.
I put a bat and glove on my oldest son at age 3.
This was his last All Star tournament unless he someday makes the MLB AllStar team. He played well but we were elliminated early on.

DRN - nice comment and series. I love the abstract and the silhouette is a classic theme type shot. Very nice.

Mongooz - nice Mike shot, best I've seen today!

yep....i bought the "package" deal a few years ago.....the 990 and the 991 AND the audio buddy preamp. i think they're running that same package again at GC.

for the $$....it's a pretty good mic. a little too sensitive for live use.

great acoustic guitar isolation room mic.

i'm not a gearhead when it comes to audio recording, but for my purposes (recording acoustic archtop guitar) I found this mic to have excellent sensitivity and warmth; an impressive performer. you're right, without a 10dB cut switch, it is not good for loud applications, but great mic for the money.

but i digress...

@RM - love the setup shot with the big cat. Your photography and processing always incorporates a great deal of artistic vision.

@Mongooz - love the vibrance and sharp capture of the butterfly!

@DR - really like the abstract, is this a peacock feather? nice irridescence...ugh, i've only attempted to spell that word twice in my life, and both times in this forum.
