Ok, there is no point in trying, I'm not getting any more people shots in before the end of this TW3 so I'm going to finish out with my last from the BBB shoot.

Tim, love these 3 iamges. The rock images just draw me right in. The image of blue is calming and peaceful while the last image is pretty cool to look at.

RM - If I'd asked someone to - with out speaking to me - express what they felt that my vision of the purpose of these last three images were, I couldn't have found a better reply. Yep, that's exactly why I shot them and presented them here. Well done!

And since we are doing, you ask and you receive...LOL I'll add another 2 images

I wanted to ask you about your two latest shots. Both images are less refined than your usual pizzaz images, was that intentional? The first pose does not carry the emotion of the second one. Interesting what even a part of a face can add to it. I wondered if you found this model a challenge to image. Just wondering.

Tim I really do like those iamges you posted!
Now about the latest images. They are of an ordinary woman want a boudoir session. This si a very personal type of session and I let the ladies choose which images they want me to edit. This lady is ordering an album so she picks 19 images. 19 images out of a 50 minute, 3 outfit change session. Not all the iamges are going to be stellar and some I dont agree whit at all. But it all comes down to self perception, how they see themselves and getting 19 images that "They" love out of their session. Since she ordered an album I try to give a variety of looks with the editing, some more contrasty, which I love , and some softer which a lot of the girls love too. So I have found its "not all about me" lol when dealing with women who are exposing their intimate side for these sessions. I have real trouble doing some different styles such as very soft. I am a vibrant, contrasty colorful gal, boudoir is more often soft and hazy. I have such a hard time with that look and am experimenting, lol I would love to just stick with the style I developed and run with it but I should keep working and keep growing. I feel like I have a long way to go with soft and fuzzy, lol

I'm serious here with this suggestion. You might want to look into a soft focus lens or filters. Yes, I know such things can be done digitally but it might give you some control during the shoot.

My goodness though, I can't see myself ever doing that kind of photography. I wouldn't even know were to start. You go girl!

hm, a thought. I have a tendency to go right to colorful and contrasty every time. I am trying to make myself do something different. With each session I learn something new. I really thought women would be doing this for fun but I am finding there are many different reasons for these types of sessions. I had one woman dying of cancer and wanted to leave these iamges for her husband just to give you an idea. The sessions can be very emotional for the client and for me at times. These clients usually leave here after giving me a big hug. I am not sure a male photographer shooting boudoir could connect on that level even being a very good photographer.

Hello to all my photography teachers!
Just went through this thread admiring the nice output of previous week, especially Rosemary's sexy ladies.. :w00t:

Unfortunately I don't have any new regular people shots, that's because I'm not shooting regularly lately.
I do have something this week, including a few of an anonymous model

These aren't very special but I thought it'll make a nice post for the biblical reference

This place is called "Gei Ben-Hinnom" (literally "Valley of the son of Hinnom"), it is the place that Hell is named after. The reference originates from the book of Jeremiah, as it appears it was a place of major idolatry. More about it HERE.
btw, it was taken from the bridge where anonymous model posed.
So if you ever wondered how hell looks like, here it is:

Next are Samson and Delilah, everyone knows about this lovely couple

well, I have no more unique biblical references, but trying a little harder I could name this next one "Stairway To Hell", referring to the place you'll end up after going down the stairs and of course a popular tune from the 1970's.

Welcome to the wrap-up for this, TW3's 67th installment. Hard to believe we've been at this for almost 2 years now. This week included a wide variety of striking and unique submissions, and a whole lot of silly chatter  And now for a quick summary...

mikeSF: you blew me away right off with Davenport Moonshine. The softness and serenity of that scene is palpable, and the subtle shades of colour among the blues adds interest. But then you followed that up with excellent performance shots of Bob James and Howard Paul. For me, Piano Solo was your best submission of the week. There's a subtle by-play of the watcher while the main performer does his thing which adds interest to the picture, and the depth of field makes it very clear which one is doing the performance at that point in time. A beautiful capture.

J.Scott: all people pictures from you this week! The LegoTM characters were a great appetizer, but I really enjoyed seeing your past work from Havana and Nicaragua. The picture of the boy behind the wall is especially captivating thanks to the great composition and the stark shadows. It comes off as a great candid shot.

blackcloudbrew: your Bowling Ball Beach pictures are great work. The IR ones add a unique twist to a fascinating scene. But your early submission, First Light on Black Mountain, is the one that really caught my eye. The simplicity of it just works, and emphasizes the soft quality of the light from the rising sun. There are subtle shades of blue which hint at the receding night sky. Let me re-iterate again that reworking the picture to add detail in the foreground is NOT necessary in my opinion. It would only add distracting detail that would take away from the rest of the picture.
frame99.jpg

rmtagg: more amazing studio work from you! Your first set was a feast for the eyes, especially for a man :w00t: But my favourite was the less-provocative portrait. There's a certain implied shyness to the scene which lends more beauty to the model. Like you were able to bring out the best of her despite her shyness.

tiffpix: more proof that one need not go far to find interesting subjects to photograph  the stuff you find around your workplace seem to provide you with a wealth of excellent ideas. Your best work this week was clearly done on your way home from work, where you stopped to capture the setting sun over the frozen lake. My favourite from you this week is by far Solitary, which does a perfect job of depicting the solitary photographer doing his/her work in a barren landscape. The tones and colours are gorgeous, and the silhouette of the photographer and tripod adds a certain mystery to the shot: is that a man or a woman? what is he/she taking a picture of, if not the sunset? professional or hobbyist? There's a lot to like here.

JIMBO: I can never get enough of that gorgeous British Columbia scenery. You do a unique job of capturing the beauty of those trees and water. You even made an effort to provide us with a shot which included a person :wiz: The standout from you this week was Rooted Stream, which includes a pleasant mix of elements that complement each other well. The smooth water flowing over the gravel bed and around the green mossy roots work well together to create a complete picture.

sprucehill: I really appreciated your effort to include the hint of a person in your submission. Your own shadow included in that scene serves as a great reminder that no matter how expansive and natural a landscape picture appears, there's always a photographer standing just behind the view, guiding our sight. Your pano also looks impressive. In the future, you might want to include a link to the picture so we can all see more detail in its larger version (the larger picture can be viewed here for those wondering).

Pablo: good job sneaking in some quality submissions just under the deadline! By far my favourite of your entries is the final one, depicting a man and a boy seemingly walking away from discarded coats. It almost has an artsy feel to it, with the implied shedding of layers while moving onwards. The black and white treatment really works for this picture. I love it!

Alright, out of all that, I gotta come up with a single choice for this week's winner. I'll write that up in my next post, coming up in just a few short minutes...
