hoo boy, it suddenly got awfully quiet in this thread. I am guessing everyone is busy taking pictures, lol. We'd love to see what you got. don't make me start putting up the family vacation pics...

Here are a few from me.. the only meaningful two shots from a hike Tuesday. I didn't intend to shoot at all, but I brought the camera and a whole mess of gear, and I grabbed a few shots.

Ominous

Crossroads

yes - heavily processed. The lighting was very gray and up this far on the hill there wasn't a lot of color yet. I pumped up the colors a bit and played with some Topaz plugins to give it a different look.

And not for judging, as it falls outside of the date range. (4/8)
Tragedy in Bikini Bottom:

I will have to break out my extension tubes.. buds are coming out I should be able to get some interesting stuff here.

yeah Dan! that first pic is mostly aptly titled. What a great sky and your use of vertical framing to include the lit up bush was a great choice! I also like the very colorful and painting-like effect of "Crossroads". I haven't used Topaz but have definitely seen some of what it can do and am impressed.

my kids will get a laugh out of the Bikini Bottom tragedy.:tu:

Nice additions SH - I'm with the others on Ominous and crossroads is a fun fix on that image. I like them both a lot.

Jimbo - You are da water guy too! Love feel of splitting solid the best as it's a tight shot on the basics - water and rock. Well done.

I was out yesterday shooting b&w film for my class project in Pt. Reyes. I happened to get a few evening shots from Abbotts Lagoon.

alright, now we're getting rolling!

@Jimbo - i really like the close up detail on "Splitting Solid". there is a strong suggestion of motion across the left side vs the stationary rocks. The porthole reflection image is well conceived as it portrays the stillness of the trees above while the torrent rushes below. I also really love those cascades in "Transitions" and the low viewpoint you chose helped to compress the falls together nicely.

@bcb - nice work on the sky shots! You got out on a good evening for capturing a dramatic sky and you did well. i like that in the second shot, you captured that lit up bit of water that cuts through the scene. These will look great as B&Ws.

ok, who has more?

Thanks. If I can get some of the 5 rolls of film I developed last night scanned (blew the whole evening), I'll have a few more to share as well.

I got a new set of Cokin filters to play with :w00t: courtesy of J.Scott's generosity. After a little advice from blackcloudbrew, I was finally able to get some adequate results using a grad ND filter:

Distant Glow

Stairway to Distant Glow

And one from last week, just for the heck of it (no filter used for this):

Well now, glad to help FP. I like these shots. I'm lovin' triangles the best though and am jealous of your result in pointing that puppy towards the sun. Well done.

Nice shots FP! I like the 'Triangles' as well.

Glad you're putting those Cokin filters to good use. :tu:
The yellow/blue polarizing filter can produce some dramatic results.
Have fun!
(Maybe a bit too weird, though.)

BCB: Excellent shots of the tall ship and clouds, must be some reason you can shoot them so well :p , but I'm really liking Lone Tree the best so far, a really nice image in B&w

Mike: Wow... again, always glad when you host. Your opening shots are jaw-dropping

Jimbo: always love your gift with water, but Transitions just brings your game up a whole bunch of notches

Sprucehill: Crossroads is really interesting, the colours and softness make it a very serene image, like I'm interested in seeing what's beyond your shot.

FP: We have been treated to some beautiful sunsets lately, and you've made good use of the new filters. Triangles is very well composed, and wonderful colour in all your images.
