Nice car show shots, I'm particularly liking the Beaumont shot as it's all car! The skull is an excellent capture as well. I've missed three recent local car shows this year and I'm unhappy about that as they are excellent subject for photo shoots. So, I'll live vicariously through yours and Tiff's. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, this looks like a rough one Mike, some really amazing shots already. Jimbo with some out-of-this-world landscapes and water flow , Ken with a perfect shot of that curved structure, and FP's amazing car show images. Good luck!

Well clearly there is a need for some additional images to provide some competition...(yah, right!). Anyway, here are a few from my weekend photo shoot and 6 mile hike to Coast Camp in the Pt. Reyes National Seashore. The original purpose was to do time exposures, wave shots, night shots, sunsets, moonrise etc. However, with the wind blowing 20-25mph and the fog coming in, we got...a bit of sun, lots of wind, and plenty of nice grey fog. So... you do what you can with what nature gives you. Here are a few.

So many interesting images this week. The car shot by Tiff have some great angles butr the coffee shot looks like it is moving. Weird but cool. Tim, Fog, light and dark is one interesting images. Proves the right light really makes a image pop. Frank, I think Tes is out doing you on the car images!!! Cheers JIMBO

wow, what a varied array of pics this week.

@FP - i got a kick ou of "Whee!" and suggest the image above i with the Skull on the camshaft could be saying the exact same thing. More reats in your next set - these days when i see your car pics i got straight to the chrome parts to try to see you in the reflection, lol. You are well hidden in these.

@DRN - from a dragon to a crab to a widow, man you bring the wildlife, don't you? I think i like the angle ad DOF of the crab and the blue is so nice.

@tiff - another great set of car pic and clever titles, "reflecty", lol. However, you really nailed the coffee mug photo, IMO. the light on that single wisp of steam is really a great catch.

@BCB - a nice varied set of sunjects and colors. I really like the light on the surf in that middle image - it reminds me of that rare moment between rainfalls where the sun breaks through but you're still getting poured upon and you think, i really dont mind this.

keep em coming, everyone!

I took my camera to my solo jazz gig aboard USS Hornet on Sunday but just didn't have a good opportunity to shoot pics and watch my gear, so I came back empty. The Hornet is noteworthy for many reasons, but perhaps most famous for launching the Doolittle bombing raid over Tokyo in 1942. I did tour the briefing room where those brave pilots and crew discussed the final details of the ill fated but vital morale boosting mission. All 16 B-25's were lost, but many of the crews survived.

6 mile hike...we were out for about 6 hours though as I recall. 3-miles out, shoot, snack, 3 miles back. Do you still respect me :(

seeing as how i prefer to drive up and use the roof of my car as my tripod wherever possible, yes, that is impressive!

Hmmm...hey wait a minute, the roof of your car is a rag top! I've never seen you do that, but...I haven't seen you walk too far either.

Yummmy shot! Did you know that those seven portholes near the top of the image were intended to be used as a secondary bridge to steer the ship if the normal ship command center (on the island) was damaged in battle? I always found that to be an interesting feature of these Essex class carriers.
