Okay, not really up here. It's been bitterly cold the last few days, so I hope I captured that with some of these photos I took last night. They're all taken on the Roosevelt Causeway in South Hero, VT.

Here's the view from a parking area on the east side of the bridge. You can see frozen areas in the lake, and snow on the distant mountains.

Some chunks of ice on the shore,

Trying to play with framing, add some perspective

And just when you're thinking that really, there's not that much ice, and it is Vermont after all, here's a shot into the wetlands in the same area.

Brrrr...very interesting views though. I like the first shot best with all the context it provides.

Nothing says cold like random chunks of ice on the ground.

Is this a normal spring for VT? We freeze our butts here in Beijing, but things warm up fast. It's actually somewhat slow this year, but we're no longer going below freezing at night.

Leigh: Hard to say what's normal lately. This is a lot colder than it has been the last few years, but not unusual for the area. Last week was fairly warm, every day was above 32C, this week has been below 32 at night every day.

Tim: Thanks, those are the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain.

If only America would go metric like the rest of the planet. =)

When I hear Americans say, '...it's freezing, it's only 20 degrees out...' I think, '...what's the matter with that? 20 degrees is comfortable.'

And especially confusing for you folks that work in one system and live in another.
