I love #2 "Ponds Edge", it is such a complete image, great framing, colors, light, gorgeous reflection, and the Jimbo touch. Nicely done.

+1
"Closer to God" is super too.

Well, crud, I'm behind in commenting and posting as well. Ok, I like them all, Mike - really boring shots. Jimbo, you are way up there - again - with an elevated POV, Tiffany fireworks and parades are great themes, and MG - grain face in a board. All interesting and well done.

Well, I've been shooting daily but even more eclectically than usual. Here are three recent efforts:

Also (not for judging) shot one of these. Not mine actually, I wish I was this good. Mmm....beer.

Hey, I shot this orchid yesterday with an old lens and an extension tube (#3 actually). It's also HDR just for fun. I like the result though.

BCB: That's a really neat effect, the texture really stands out around the smooth inner whorl.

Thanks, this one surprised me too. The extension tube was supposed to communicate the f-stop to the camera but didn't. I don't actually know what f-stop I used but it might have been around f32. if so, I got great DOF on this at a lens to subject distance of about 6 inches. I took a lot of shots to get this final one.

Interesting shot BCB. I was just reading an article on extension tubes, so nice to see a result of what they can do for close-up shots.

I have a macro lens, extension tubes, and a reversing ring. The macro lens is clearly my favorite as it is the easiest to use, but the extension tubes make any lens work as a macro. I need to use them more.

A couple more from me from yesterday. It's the summer fog season and really very dry here. I haven't been too inspired to get out and image the terrain but yesterday I was able to get these:

The Road like a Snake.

sorry, been out of pocket with work.
very nice pics everyone...tell you what, let's accept submissions through Saturday night. and i will announce a winner after that.

Mongooz - very nice alien in the wood. You know of course they are always watching us.

FP - the bloodbath in the fridge is a nice capture. I remember staying at a cabin in the redwoods with my wife once and the little fridge/freezer was questionable so i put her Dr Peppers in the freezer section to ensure they would chill. At some point in the night we heard an explosion and found the door to the fridge blown open and a similar scene all over the kitchen floor, cabinets, and counters. good times.

BCB - i am intrigued by that little plant in "Simple Beauty", what is it?? I like the tonemapping effect on the orchid as I always thought that grainy glittery surface of the Phaelanopsis is stunning.
