Must be the weather and time of year. I'm in a real funk. (Damn Redneck, any musical links and you're banned.:p)

LM, good of you to fill in the blanks, just don't pick yourself.:o You have very emotive kitties, I love it when they are so communicative. The rose shots suggest you're nothing but an old romantic at heart. Shall we call you Valentino?

Frank, nice isolation shot with the fence post. The fungus in your third shot is Turkey Tail I believe, it has medicinal uses.

Tim, I like your RR track shot. Wouldn't mind seeing a straight B&W of that subject.

Leigh, I like the colours you're getting with the plastic fantastic, 'Lo-fi Suzhou Street' is a glorious scene with a vintage feel to it. 'Semi-Secret Garden' would have a polaroid look about it with a square crop.

Tiffany, I like the proportions in your second shot. It works very well.

I took one photograph this week here's two versions of it, the third is one I have just found and processed.

Gary, it never ceses to amaze me how an image presented in both color and b&w can give two different feelings and looks. Your flower shot is an excellent example of this. In the color shot the color bokeh enhances the image, while in the b&w shot, the flower is THE image. I like them both.

Love your POO shot. It could be used for a poster to stop rail road track at the POO...LOL. Nice capture.

I'll have to wait for the rain to depart but I'll go back and shoot a regular b&w version on the tracks as it's fairly close to home. I expect that it wont be that much different except for the look of the growing things in the distance. Good idea though, thanks.

Sorry folks are in a photo funk. My one image daily effort has kept me humming for the past month and a half. Get out and get active, I guess.

DB, yes, we're very lucky and happy to have emotive kitties. We always strive to provide our pets with a safe, happy home with plenty of interaction with their "parents", and our reward is that that they are so expressive. Your 1st pic has provided me - and perhaps all of us - with a much-needed dash of beauty and color. I think some of us are suffering from the winter doldrums, and by me we haven't had any snow for 2 weeks to freshen things up; just old, dirty, melting snow, lingering like a disappointing dream. "Pink" is the anodyne for this malady. "Stop, Port of Oakland Rail Crossing Road Tracks" is expertly photographed, good comp. to choose an angle that involves the stop sign, as that really makes the image.

Hi Folks,
BCB lovin the RR Tracks.
Lost- Cat &Roses is cool
Tiffany - Pet Portrature :-) :-) :-)
Leighon- there is something special about the canal shot

Went to the beach yesterday between jobs. First got to the annual Christmas tree piles which are a really great eco friendly way to help keep the sand on the dunes but then saw the effects of the "beach renourishment" project that took place this winter. Basically they dredge a trench 1/2 mile off shore and pump the sand onto the beach so more tourists have more space to oil up and turn pink. Problem is this destroys the life in the sand and makes the beach dead for a couple years. There should have been hundreds of shore birds , crabs etc. but they will be gone for a while.

LM - your bird shot made me want to say 'awk awk awk!' and post a few more.

DRN - Interesting series. I think the feather in the tree is a really good capture. It makes you think and the color contrast between the tree and the feather is really good. Nice shot.

I'm fascinated with symmetry at times and transmission lines feed this fascination. Here is one I took on a walk last weekend. Oh, and this was just plain old visible light.

Looking Up.

Back to IR world. Rainy night shot outside the parking structure at school. PP on this may be a factor but I really liked it's symmetry and other worldly feeling.
Night Rain.

This is a film shot. Early morning hike in a new regional park.

Alone on a hill.

DRN: Hey, it's real good to see you here! :D "Ornament" is really neat, a great catch. The color of the foliage is really unusual to my eyes, and that adds extra interest to the shot. I can practically hear the sarcasm in "Progress". "Not Quietly Into The Night" is a fairly poignant shot, it reminds me of a similar shot I took a couple years ago of a swan carcass.

BCB: You may want to say "awk awk awk!", but the turkey vulture doesn't. Or, at least, he can't: turkey vultures lack a syrinx, which in the avian world is the equivalent of a larynx. The best vocalization this big boy can do is hiss and a kind of "chuffle" sound. "Alone on a hill" is a cool, wide-open shot that depends on the human to provide a sense of scale. "Night rain" has a real X-Files vibe. "Looking up" reminds me of my recent, brief dalliance with similar subject matter. Lines can be very interesting, and I think you did a decent job here.

@DR: Some really great emotive shots. I'd think a bird carcass wouldn't be something I'd want to see in a photo, but your capture is very poignant.

@BCB: love the Night Rain shot, very interesting in IR.

A couple years ago I started photographing turkey vultures, and kinda got into researching them... so I guess I've become a little bit of a T.V. nerd. :wth:

Well, I'm headed up the coast for a weekend of sea kayaking. I'll have pictures for next week but for now. I've only got one more to share.
