Update on FPZ 2.0
Work is continuing on FPZ 2.0. We're still anticipating a launch before the end of the year. A few new notable features which have been added include:
-
Blog application: Now members can host their own blogs on FPZ. Sometimes you have thoughts you want to share with the rest of the world without necessarily needing to start a whole discussion about it in the forum. Our new blog application will allow you to do that, including all the common features you expect from a full-featured blog. You can keep it as complex or as simple as you want!
-
Community groups: while we may not have a membership list that numbers in the thousands yet, all groundwork has been laid too allow members to form community groups within FPZ. Whether it's a group based on geographical location, a similar interest in photography style, or a favourite snack, the possibilities are wide open. Each group gets its own forum section, an events calendar, and many other features.
-
New forum software: One of the original goals of FPZ 2.0 was to move away from our current forum software, which requires a lot of kludging and fudging to keep running reliably. The new forum software we're moving to already includes most of the features we had to kludge-in on the old one, and will streamline much more efficiently with the rest of the site. New features will also be much easier and more reliable to implement in the future.
Those are the main highlights that are currently in place. There are still a few more features to work on, including the new critique and contest applications. Stay tuned for more updates in the near future!
Merry Season, Happy Greetings!
'tis some kind of Holiday season for most of us! FPZ sends you all a happy non-denominational cheer for the holidays. Don't forget to take lots of pictures of Holiday events and share them with us. The Remarkable FPZ "I'll Buy That For $1" Shoot Out is a perfect excuse to go out there and take holiday-themed pictures, but we look forward to seeing all your Holiday snaps and/or works of art.
